Mykola Tomenko: A Discussion concerning Possible Falsification of the Results of the Elections discredits Ukraine in the World
On 18 September, Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stays with a working visit in Chernivtsi region.
Within the scope of the visit, Mykola Tomenko visited Chernivtsi National University, delivering a lecture to the students of the department in history. Meeting the students and the faculty, the Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada stated that the talks concerning possible disruption of elections and falsification of their results discredited Ukraine in the world.
"I do not know who suggested that the team of the acting President and numerous candidates for presidency who will never hold this office launched a campaign under the slogan that the presidential elections will be disrupted or the results will be falsified", - stated M.Tomenko.
According to the Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, "if the attempt to disrupt the elections is connected with the willingness of Viktor Yushchenko to prolong the office for a certain period, then such actions can be explained, though not justified". "Every declaration or publication concerning non-democratic elections bears a negative influence on Ukraine due to the response of the world", - he stated.
"This campaign threatens the only achievement of the latest years a democratic nature of the present-day political regime", - stressed M.Tomenko.
The Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine suggested that all the candidates for presidency who launched the campaign focused on the provision of democratic and legitimate elections instead of threatening their results before the start of elections.
